WHAT PAYS FOR YOUR ADVENTURES (AKA, WHAT’S YOUR DAY JOB)?

I have worked in fashion in a variety of roles for over 16 years but have longed dreamt about being my own boss and making the switch to the travel industry.

Three years ago I started to focus on online marketing and social media, did some courses, got a certificate and built my own travel blog website. I also started my travel related social media accounts to post pictures of my travels to inspire others. These did quite well and after two years and I now have over 60K followers on Instagram.  I also have a loyal following at my website www.AuthenticChica.com.

So last year I decided to take the leap and start my own PR and Marketing consultancy company which has been running successfully for five months.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE ADVENTURE?

Too many to choose from, but I loved ziplining through the jungle of Mauritius.  I live to explore new destinations and love to create unique combo trip destinations like tropical Costa Rica for Christmas at 38 degrees with New Year’s Eve in New York City at -10 degrees!

Our recent trip to South Africa was full of contrast as well with a two and half week road trip from the Eastern to Western Cape. We packed in cities, shopping, quaint towns, open roads, game drives, wild animals, incredible vista's and awesome food and wine!

IF YOU HAD AN UNLIMITED BUDGET AND 10 DAYS AT YOUR DISPOSAL, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

A couple of options I’d consider here. I would love to visit Argentina and combine it with a boat trip to the South Pole, but of course I would also visit the Iguazu Falls and want to see it from both sides. Another option would be to sail the Caribbean, or go to Hawaii and on the way back pass by French Polynesia and New Zealand.  Japan is also high on my list.

But there is still sooo much more, and so hard to just pick one!

WHEN YOU TRAVEL, WHAT DON’T YOU LEAVE HOME WITH OUT?

Preferably my partner or one of my girlfriends, but I also like to travel alone. It depends on how long the trip is.

I definitely don’t leave home without my phone and DSLR camera to capture all the beautiful moments and sights around me. I also make sure I have a good travel bag which is beautiful, practical and carries all my stuff.

WHERE ARE YOU PLANNING YOUR NEXT TRIP?

Croatia is next on the schedule for a road trip which I’m leaving for next week, but I have many more on the list for the coming 2 months: Lesbos in Greece, Aruba, Maldives, Portugal and I hope to revisit Bali and Norway again this year as well. I’m also trying to see how I can fit in Rome, the Amalfi coast and Iceland as well, so who knows…
